Vauxhall is UK’s best-selling electric LCV manufacturer

Vauxhall is the UK’s the best-selling electric Light Commercial Vehicle (e-LCV) manufacturer, according to the latest sales and registrations figures published today by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).

Vauxhall has sold 1,560 e-LCV’s year-to-date and is now one of the few manufacturers able to offer fleets and business customers an electric van across its entire LCV line-up, following the announcements of its All-New Movano-e large van and the All-New Combo-e compact van.

Sales success so far this year was underpinned by the multiple award winning all-electric Vivaro-e, the best-selling model year-to-date in the a e-LCV sector.

The Vivaro-e continues to receive critical acclaim with multiple award wins, after taking home one of the most coveted accolades in the light commercial vehicle sector –International Van of the Year 2021 – at the beginning of the year. The Vivaro-e has a long list of awards under its belt, including the overall ‘Van of the Year’ and the ‘Electric Van of the Year’ titles at the annual What Van? 2021 awards, and was named ‘Best Electrified Commercial Vehicle’ at the 2021 DrivingElectric Awards.

With a WLTP range of up to 205 miles and payload of up to 1,226kg, the new Vivaro-e is at the forefront of Vauxhall’s commitment to electrification, as the brand continues its electric vehicle expansion with the goal of offering an electrified variant across its model line-up by 2024, and to offer only fully electric cars and vans in the UK by 2028.

The Vauxhall electric LCV line-up will expand to include the Movano-e large van and the Combo-e compact van. Vauxhall is also adding the Vivaro-e Hydrogen to its all-electric van range during 2022.

Suzuki Introduces the Jimny Light Commercial Vehicle

Suzuki has now introduced a new two-seater Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) version of its small and lightweight off-roader, the Jimny. Since its global launch in 2018, the car model has attracted both private users and professionals who seek authentic off-road performance. The new LCV model will be available in very limited numbers in the UK in 2021.

To further meet the needs of business professionals, the new Jimny LCV comes with a large 863 litre load area compartment with flat floor and safety cargo partition. Jimny LCV is available in one specification grade which includes air conditioning, ALLGRIP PRO selectable 4WD with low transfer gear, DAB radio, Dual Sensor Brake Support, 15-inch Black steel wheels and cruise control with speed limiter.

New Jimny light commercial vehicle highlights

  • Authentic off-road performance

The light commercial vehicle model features the same authentic, uncompromising off-roading performance desired by professionals as the passenger vehicle model with key essentials – a ladder frame, the three angles, 3-link rigid axle suspension and ALLGRIP PRO 4WD.

  • Practical luggage space

For enhanced utility, the light commercial vehicle model has a large 863-litre capacity, 33 litre more than the passenger vehicle model when rear sear seats are folded down, with a flat floor for better practicality and safety partition that protects cargo from moving into the cabin.

  • Advanced safety features

For enhanced peace of mind when driving both on and off-road, the LCV model comes equipped with the same safety features as the passenger vehicle model including Dual Sensor Brake Support (DSBS) which employs automatic brake to help avoid a collision, and hill hold and descent control that support driving on slopes. In addition, eCall, an emergency messaging function following a collision is also available as standard equipment.

Fiat Professional opens orders for the New Ducato

Orders are now open at all Fiat Professional showrooms for the New Ducato. The flagship model of the Fiat Professional range, launched in 1981, wears its 40-year history with pride, having already celebrated its status as the best-selling light commercial vehicle in Europe in 2020.

Already best-in-class for capabilities and broadest range on the market, the New Ducato is aimed not only at cementing  its leading position, but also at improvement to ensure it is always ready for every mission and to fulfill all its clients’ cargo and mobility requirements. The same customers have always acknowledged the model’s leadership in terms of efficiency, flexibility and constant upgrading, resulting in its status as the best-selling commercial vehicle in Europe after 40 years of continuous success.

Technology
The New Ducato reaffirms its leadership and remains one step ahead of the competition, by focusing on technology and connectivity, and even by refreshing the design and overall appearance of the interior. A new all-digital configuration of the internal instruments, courtesy of the Full Digital Cockpit that can immediately and clearly provide practical journey information and alerts – from the satnav to the driver assistance systems – offers a great deal of flexibility, down to the options for reconfiguration and interaction with the UConnect infotainment system. The vehicle can therefore  be adapted in the best way possible to the driver’s requirements. On top of all this are the new UConnect interfaces with screens up to 10-inch, a top-of-the-range full satellite navigation system including TomTom 3D maps and built-in wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. These latter systems provide access to the most commonly used vehicle controls in just one tap. The UConnect 7-inch screen – also with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto – and the UConnect 5-inch screen complete the offering. The refreshed interior design is embellished with a redesigned dashboard and steering wheel, along with a new gear lever, new door panels and automatic air conditioning controls.

Safety
With this fully refreshed architecture, the New Ducato adds a great new offer of driver assistance and safety systems, aimed at improving the driving experience and at making the Ducato a safer environment for work or leisure. Indeed, the New Ducato is marketed as the first light commercial vehicle with level two autonomous driving, offering a full range of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) both on the road and when parking. These will be available from dealerships soon. From speed limitation to braking control for unexpected obstacles such as pedestrians and cyclists, from road sign recognition to driver attentiveness monitoring, all the way to Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop&Go function, Lane Keep Assist and Traffic Jam Assist, the last of which maintains active control over the vehicle’s trajectory, taking into account traffic conditions. The combined use of the latter three ADAS enables the New Ducato to achieve level 2 autonomous driving, where the vehicle provides independent assistance while driving and during acceleration and braking. A unique result, never before achieved by a commercial vehicle.

The broad driver assistance and parking system specs are added to by the Digital Central Mirror, which digitally improves and shows the rear view to replace the relevant mirror, plus the ESC system with Cross-Wind Assist, Trailer Stability Control and Active Park Assist, the latter a semi-autonomous assistant for parallel and perpendicular parking manoeuvers.

Comfort
In addition, the expected upcoming boom and affirmation of e-commerce and home delivery will entail new requirements and demand in terms of driving comfort. The New Ducato provides a response to these with practical, smart solutions such as: Keyless Entry and Go – to lock and unlock the cabin and load compartment doors and start the engine without the key; electric parking brake to reduce clutter in the cabin and facilitate relocations; the Eat-and-Work passenger seat, which becomes a convenient space to work or for a snack when folded down; a compartment to charge mobile phones wirelessly; double USB-A and USB-C ports; a high-voltage 230-V power socket; larger and more spacious door panels; heated windshield with internal electrical resistance for quick defrost and; self-leveling air suspension, to lower the load threshold, making loading and unloading easier.

The seats come with a more contemporary look, new padding and offer more space and comfort; the new electric power steering as standard throughout the range is more precise and manageable in all driving and load conditions; the smaller steering wheel with a reduced turning circle redefine the concept of comfort inside the new cabin of the Ducato, to the benefit of ergonomics and to reduce the stress of drivers and passengers with increasingly strenuous work commitments.

Powertrains
New Ducato has fully refreshed its engine range, developed to comply with Euro 6D-Final regulations, and by expanding the range on offer with Heavy-Duty type-approval. The new Multijet3 diesel engines, based on the new and exclusive H3 power architecture proprietary to Stellantis, are now in their third generation and build on their strengths, offering improvements in efficiency by reducing the weight (for the benefit of the load capacity) and by lowering consumption and CO2 emissions (by up to seven per cent, a best-in-class figure). Durability is also increased, as an essential characteristic of an engine dedicated to the heavy-duty usage typical of commercial vehicles and to comfort, courtesy of improved flexibility and lower noise than the previous generation of engines.

The New Ducato will be available in four levels of output (120hp, 140hp, 160hp and 180hp) with a new and improved six speed manual transmission – offered in all four levels and the much-appreciated nine speed automatic transmission, available in the 140hp, 160hp and 180hp variants.  Available in the three highest levels of output, the heavy duty range with manual and automatic transmission completes the engines on offer, maintaining the same torque as the light duty models, already best-in-class with 450Nm of torque from the most powerful engine. Altogether, New Ducato provides customers with the choice of 13 different combinations in the line-up, to best adapt to all mission specifications.

Design
The designers at Centro Stile have paid great attention to the redefinition of the New Ducato’s lines and the ergonomics of its interior. The front now has a bolder look, featuring the new, iconic Fiat badge in its center, to proudly emphasize the fact it forms part of the Italian brand, as a vehicle produced at the Atessa plant. Similarly, the grid, engine housing and skid plates have been redesigned to give an impression of stylistic uniformity in step with the times. However, the factor that immediately attracts the attention is the design of the high-performance new lights with full-LED technology. The lights are divided into three sections, with the lowest dedicated to the LED light guide, which develops the signature characteristic of the Ducato. The three central lights come with a decidedly sporty look and offer 30 per cent more brightness than conventional halogen headlights. Finally, the upper section is dedicated to the direction indicators, the style of which has also been refreshed with an LED light guide with a slider switch, an effect much appreciated and used in cars and now available in a commercial vehicle. To complete the interventions in terms of style, the brand new Lanzarote Grey has been introduced as a colour at launch, emphasising the adventurous spirit of the New Ducato and specifically dedicated to clients from the recreational sector.

New Ducato is available in three configurations: Tecnico, Tecnico Plus and Business Edition, and are all wider ranging than ever before. These three configurations can be customised even further by adding other packs with ADAS systems and improved functionality, all of which are designed to make the New Ducato ‘fit for every mission’ and tailor-made for client requirements.

Connectivity
All new connected services can transform the New Ducato. Firstly, the Uconnect system can be enhanced in many ways: Uconnect™ Services and the FIAT app will make it possible to manage and monitor the vehicle directly from various devices.  Further services include remote assistance, smart navigation, remote control, fleet management and much more. These create a virtuous circle where all stakeholders can benefit from the advantages of work done in a spirit of constant contact and sharing via the main features on offer, for example My Assistant, to ensure safety and assistance while traveling, providing geolocated support in the event of an incident. Every month, a report is also sent on the health of the New Ducato, with recommendations on how best to take care of the vehicle.

My Remote offers interaction with the vehicle, even when away from it, to lock and unlock the doors, check its location and set up alerts on speed, area and time slots. Plus, if using a voice assistant, directions can be sent straight to the car and receive information on vehicle status.

My Car monitors the health of New Ducato at any time, including fuel level, tyre pressure, odometer and receipt of direct notifications on maintenance or repairs.

Using My Navigation, you can reach any destination quickly and stress-free, with traffic, weather and speed camera information in real time. The Send&Go, Parking Search and Refuelling Station features help to optimise time: for example, after a destination has been found in the app, it can be sent to the satnav with just one tap, then refuelling stations and car parks can be viewed along the way. The maps are always kept up to date over-the-air, without having to visit a workshop.

My Wi-Fi, with added Wi-Fi Hotspot, enables the connection of up to 8 devices and the use of the Amazon Alexa Voice Service in your vehicle. The My Alert pack is available for notifications if a theft of Ducato is attempted to receive assistance.

Finally, the My Fleet Manager tool can be used to simplify corporate fleet management with maximum efficiency and safety, courtesy of advanced tools to monitor, plan and analyse a whole fleet of vehicles.

The connectivity offered by the New Ducato also means vehicle telematic data and remote controls can be integrated with existing client solutions, to ensure maximum interoperability.

Vauxhall Movano-e: Vauxhall’s van line-up is now fully electric

Vauxhall has released the first details and images of the All-New Movano and Movano-e, the first large Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) from the brand to be available as a fully-electric variant. Featuring class-leading load volume, a wide variety of body styles, seating for up to seven and low running costs, both electric and diesel versions will arrive in the UK later this year.

Vauxhall Movano

Designed to comfortably meet the wide-ranging demands of business and fleet users, the versatile All-New third generation Movano is available as a panel van, crew cab and chassis cab. With All-New Movano-e, customers also benefit from zero emissions-in-use running, low running costs as well as a range of up to 139 miles (WLTP).

All-New Movano joins the Combo and the Vivaro as the newest members of Vauxhall’s award-winning LCV family. All-New Movano-e lines-up alongside Vivaro-e and, from later this year, Combo-e, meaning Vauxhall offers a fully electric version across its entire LCV range and remains on course to deliver an electrified version of all its cars and vans by 2024.

Perfect for the open road and last-mile urban deliveries
Featuring a 90kW (122PS) and 260Nm electric motor, the Movano-e is available with a choice of either a 37kWh or 70kWh battery, with ranges of 72 miles and 139 miles respectively under WLTP testing, making it perfect for urban environments, such as last-mile deliveries, and the open road. Like Vauxhall’s other fully electric LCV models, Movano-e is exempt from current ultra-low and congestion charge payments. The zero emissions powertrain also allows businesses to save significantly on company van tax, with a 0% Benefit-in-Kind tax rate.  This provides eligible businesses with immediate and significant annual savings that can amount to thousands of pounds.

All-New Movano-e’s lithium-ion battery is mounted under the floor between the front and rear axle, resulting in no compromise in load volume compared to the diesel-engined model. This positioning of the battery also results in a low centre of gravity, improving cornering and stability even when fully loaded.  A sophisticated regenerative braking system that recovers energy when slowing further increases the Movano-e’s efficiency.

All-New Movano is also available with a powerful, durable and efficient diesel engine option. The state-of-the-art 2.2-litre unit meets strict Euro 6d emissions regulations and is available with a range of power outputs, from 120PS to 165PS and with torque figures of between 300Nm and 370Nm. All versions of the engines feature a six-speed manual gearbox and front-wheel drive.

Wide variety of sizes and body options for ultimate versatility
Panel van customers can choose from four wheelbase lengths (L1, L2, L3 and L4) and three height options (H1, H2, and H3), with load volumes from 8.0 to 17 cubic metres. Measuring  1,422mm between the wheel arches and 1,870mm between the side panels, the All-New Movano has set benchmarks for its rivals load bay dimensions.

On high roof H3 variants the rear doors have an unrivalled 2.03mm loading height, plus can be opened up to 270 degrees. The All-New Movano also benefits from one of the widest range of Gross Vehicle Weights in the large LCV class (2,800kg to 4,000kg) and a maximum payload of 2,100kg. The standard panel van has a single row of three seats, while crew cab versions benefit from second row seating that can accommodate a further four passengers.

All-New Movano is also available as a chassis cab, a chassis crew cab and a platform cab with a single row of three seats. Developed to meet the widest range of needs, these versatile models provide a perfect base for a wide range of conversions, including tippers and dropside loaders.

Class-leading safety and technology
As with other Vauxhall LCV models, All-New Movano and Movano-e benefit from both VauxhallConnect and the MyVauxhall app. On the Movano-e, the MyVauxhall app allows access to useful information such as nearby charging stations, while VauxhallConnect gives drivers access to features such as current charge status. On all versions of All-New Movano, LIVE Navigation provides online traffic information in real time

Vauxhall Connect also comes with Vauxhall’s e-Call and b-Call technology, where in the event of an emergency or breakdown drivers are put in touch with a trained advisor with just the touch of a button.

All-New Movano and Movano-e are also available with a range of key safety features designed to protect both occupants and other road users. Depending on trim level the systems available include forward collision alert, blind spot warning, lane departure warning and Hill Descent Control, which takes into account the extra length of a trailer when warning drivers about objects in their blindspot.

Ford Introduces Exclusive Ranger Raptor Special Edition Pick-up

The Ranger Raptor – the toughest, highest-performing variant of Europe’s best-selling pick-up – just got even more desirable in the form of a new Special Edition model.

Built in limited numbers to ensure exclusivity, the new Ranger Raptor Special Edition enhances the thoroughbred pick-up’s commanding exterior and premium interior with additional styling accents including bold racing stripes and distinctive red detailing.

The limited-edition model is among the heroes of “The Good, the Bad and the Bad-RSE” – a new Spaghetti Western movie genre-inspired action film released today by Ford. The film showcases Ranger Raptor Special Edition’s newly-enhanced style and high-speed capability in appropriate off-road scenarios alongside further distinctive Ranger models including the new Wolftrak and Stormtrak variants, and the rally-inspired Ranger MS-RT.

Developed by Ford Performance as the ultimate Ranger model, the Ranger Raptor features an ultra-strong chassis, bespoke suspension and tyres, and a high-performance EcoBlue diesel powertrain to support the thrill-seeking outdoor lifestyles of true off-road enthusiasts.

“The new Ranger Raptor Special Edition adds even more dramatic style to our ‘bad-ass’ truck, with unique exterior touches and cabin enhancements that make our off-road performance pick-up even more distinctive and desirable,” said Stefan Muenzinger, manager, Ford Performance, Ford of Europe. “Starring in its own Spaghetti Western movie is the perfect way to demonstrate Ranger Raptor Special Edition’s style and off-road capability.”

Head-turning road presence
Featuring a choice of bold Performance Blue, Conquer Grey and Frozen White paint finishes, the new Ranger Raptor Special Edition adds twin matte black racing stripes – edged with red contrast lines – to the bonnet, roof, lower body sides, rear wings and tailgate to further emphasise the pick-up’s high-performance character.

Complementing the distinctive racing stripes, front tow hooks are finished in red while the flared wheel arches, front and rear bumpers, door handles and signature Ford-embossed grille feature a matte black finish to create an even more imposing appearance than the standard Raptor’s grey exterior details.

Inside the Ranger Raptor Special Edition’s double cab interior, an even sportier, bespoke feel is delivered with red stitching for the steering wheel, instrument panel and door cards. Standard high-grain leather seats are designed to be comfortable and supportive whether tackling rough terrain or smooth highway, and a Special Edition-only Raceway Grey instrument panel adds further exclusivity.

The Special Edition model retains Ranger Raptor’s unique Ford Performance chassis. Optimised for high-speed off-road driving where regulations and conditions allow, Ranger Raptor features a 150mm wider track and 51mm taller ride height than Ranger XLT for greater off-road capability.

The bespoke suspension uses aluminium double wishbones at the front and a multi-link rear architecture, including FOX shock absorbers with Position Sensitive Damping that moderates damping forces in response to changing driving scenarios. General Grabber AT3 all-terrain tyres offer maximum grip on loose surfaces.

Ranger Raptor Special Edition is powered by Ford’s 213PS 2.0‑litre EcoBlue Bi-turbo diesel engine developing 500Nm of torque, 1 driving a responsive 10-speed automatic gearbox shared with the Ford Mustang sports car. Ranger Raptor’s unique Terrain Management System enables drivers to tackle a wide range of terrain and driving scenarios, including Baja Mode – named after the famous Baja 1000 desert rally – for optimum off-road performance. 2

In Ford’s new “The Good, the Bad and the Bad-RSE” film, 3 the Ranger Raptor Special Edition evades hostile bandits in a Wild West-style town aided by fellow Ranger models. Citroën UK confirms pricing and specification for new ë-Relay with order books now open

Citroën’s biggest and most capacious van is now available to order in the UK with a choice of two all-electric drivetrains. The introduction of ë-Relay fulfils the brand’s electrification commitment to offer 100% electric versions of each Citroën LCV by the end of 2021. Basic prices for the new battery-powered ë-Relay start from £49,335 (after the Government Plug-in-Van Grant is applied, excluding VAT).

New ë-Relay is available exclusively in well-appointed ‘Enterprise’ trim, and can be ordered as a Panel Van, Window Van or Chassis Cab – to suit a wide variety of fleet and business needs. Panel Vans are available in L2 (5,413mm), L3 (5,998mm) and L4 (6,363mm) lengths, while the Window Van is offered exclusively in L4 form. Chassis Cabs come in the most popular L3 length only.

Customers have a choice of two Lithium-ion battery packs, a 37kWh battery connected to a 120hp (90kW) electric motor available exclusively in the L2 Panel Van, or a 70kWh battery unit connected to the same 120hp (90kW)  motor for all other body types. The 37kWh battery provides a WLTP certified range of up to 73 miles in the L2 Panel Van, while the 70kWh battery increases range up to 139 miles under WLTP testing for L3 and L4 variants.

All new Citroën ë-Relay models feature a Type 2 charging cable as standard, supporting charging up to 22kW. A full charge from a 7kW wallbox unit will take 6 and 12 hours respectively for the 37kWh and 70kWh versions. Both battery packs also support up to 50kW rapid charging.

Ideal for fleet and business use, the 100% electric new ë-Relay offers lower total cost of ownership (TCO) compared to an equivalent combustion engine powered vehicle. Savings include substantially reduced fuel costs, servicing costs and taxation rates. New ë-Relay also benefits from the UK Government Plug-in-Van Grant (PIVG) of up to £16,000, whilst also enjoying exemption from current congestion and ultra-low emissions charges.

PRACTICALITY
New ë-Relay is Citroën’s largest electric van, with Panel Van versions offering a payload of up to 1,150kg. All internal load volumes are identical to equivalent Relay Diesel vans, ensuring no compromise in capability and capacity.

EQUIPMENT & SPECIFICATION
All new ë-Relay vans come in popular ‘Enterprise’ trim as standard. Extremely well appointed, these models feature a 5-inch colour touchscreen with DAB radio and integrated satellite navigation, as well as air conditioning and a perimetric alarm. For ease of use, rear parking sensors are also included.

Instead of a conventional gear lever, three buttons allow the driver to select the vehicle driving mode (D, N, R). To obtain key information relating to the vehicle’s efficiency, all new ë-Relay models boast a specific rear view mirror (exclusive to electric versions), that displays key information to the driver, including battery charge level and range.

New ë-Relay differs from its Diesel counterparts with a bespoke ‘ë’ Monogram at the rear. The vehicle’s charging port is located to the rear of the passenger door on the nearside.

PEUGEOT unveils prices and specification for e-Boxer van

PEUGEOT e-Boxer

PEUGEOT has opened reservations for the new e-Boxer van, the brand’s largest full electric Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV). Available to order from 19th May, the PEUGEOT e-Boxer is available with two battery options and comes in three lengths to suit a variety of needs for both business and private users. Prices for the new PEUGEOT e-Boxer start from £49,335 (excluding VAT, after PiVG).

PEUGEOT e-Boxer

The PEUGEOT e-Boxer comes with a choice of two battery capacities depending on size of the vehicle. The L2 length comes with a 37kWh unit, while L3 and L4 versions feature a larger, 70kWh battery. Both lithium-ion batteries are connected to a 90kW electric motor producing 350Nm of torque.

The PEUGEOT e-Boxer will arrive on UK roads as PEUGEOT continues its electrification strategy, and is set to offer an electrified variant across its entire range by 2025, and an electric variant across its LCV range by the end of this year.

The 37kWh battery is capable of up to 73-mile WLTP-approved range, while the 70kWh battery increases the range of the PEUGEOT e-Boxer to 139-miles. All PEUGEOT e-Boxer models come with a 22kW Mode 3 Type 2 Charging Cable that is compatible with both single and three phase wallboxes. A full 0-100% charge using a 7.4kW single phase wallbox can be achieved in six hours on the 37kWh battery, and 12 hours on the 70kWh battery. The e-Boxer also supports 50kW rapid charging, allowing a 0-80% charge in just one hour.

Drivers have the choice of switching between three driving modes, each selected by pushing one of three buttons marked D (Drive), N (Neutral) and R (Reverse), which replace the conventional gear lever. To maximise vehicle range, the e-Boxer features regenerative braking technology that converts the kinetic energy usually lost during braking into electricity for the battery, providing more electric miles of range.

The PEUGEOT e-Boxer is available exclusively in ‘Professional’ trim, and comes in three different body styles to suit a variety of needs; Panel Van, Window Van, and Chassis Cab. With a choice of three wheelbases, up to 4.04m long, the PEUGEOT e-Boxer comes in three lengths – L2, L3, and L4. With the battery located underneath the floor of the vehicle, there is no compromise to practicality, as the e-Boxer comes with a 15m3 maximum load volume, 1,150kg maximum payload on Panel Van, and up to 1.87m internal width on Panel Van versions.

With its all-electric powertrain, the PEUGEOT e-Boxer is exempt from current congestion charge or Ultra Low Emissions Zone (ULEZ) payments, providing a further cost incentive to businesses and fleets.

Access to the electric charge point is located on the left front wing of the van. The PEUGEOT e-Boxer comes with a range of colour options; Ice White, Dragoon Blue, Volcano Red, Graphite Grey, Azzuro Blue and Golden White.

All PEUGEOT customers buying a new full electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle are eligible for a 6-month free subscription to BP Pulse – the UK’s largest public charging network.

All PEUGEOT e-Boxer vehicles come with a certificate of battery capacity after each service to give owners peace of mind, with the lithium-ion battery guaranteed by an eight-year/100,000-miles warranty for 70% of its original charge capacity. PEUGEOT is also able to combine service contracts and additional features such as roadside assistance under a single finance package to help simplify payments.

New ŠKODA Octavia Scout now available exclusively to Emergency Services customers

ŠKODA’s Octavia Scout has long been a favourite choice of emergency services customers thanks to its combination of classic ŠKODA dependability and enhanced off-road potential. The new Scout is set to be no exception; more reliable and capable than ever, it is also available fully converted to the user’s requirements through ŠKODA’s ‘one-stop shop’ service.

Powered by a choice of 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engines outputting 150PS and 200PS respectively, the new Octavia Scout is offered exclusively with an all-wheel drive DSG transmission. The Scout provides excellent value to blue light fleet managers looking for one vehicle capable of performing a range of crucial duties.

The Scout’s versatility is thanks in no small part to its standard off-road modifications. With a platform raised by 15mm over the standard Octavia, for a total ground clearance of 161mm, the Scout boasts a 15.8° approach angle, 13.9° departure angle, and ramp angle of up to 19.7°. Its Rough Road Package – including a rear axle skid plate, revised suspension springs, and Scout-specific chassis tuning – leaves it even better equipped to handle unpaved terrain.

The Scout is also the only car in the Octavia model series to offer the optional Off-Road function. MPV best-seller launching this year with plug-in hybrid drive system for the first time

Multivan

Gliding through the city with zero on-road emissions and at the same time easily mastering the longest of journeys thanks to great total range – an MPV capable of doing precisely this is what Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has now developed: the Multivan eHybrid. Its plug-in hybrid drive system fulfils the requirements of a new era and is perfect for the new Multivan, as the combination of electric motor and petrol engine ideally fuses sustainability with the typical all- round qualities of an MPV.

It is a new Multivan experience: push the START button, shift the dual-clutch gearbox (DSG) by wire to ‘D’, press down on the accelerator and the front- wheel-powered MPV pulls silently away. Silent running with logic behind it: whenever possible, the Multivan eHybrid starts in ‘e-mode’, i.e. powered 100% electrically and thus emission-free. The electric range will be dimensioned in such a way that the typical daily distances can be covered without emissions. At higher speeds and/or low battery charge levels, a turbocharged petrol engine (TSI) additionally cuts in. For the Multivan, which can seat up to seven people, the plug-in hybrid is an ideal drive system, as it combines zero emissions in urban settings with the ability to do long journeys, such as going on holiday, with a minimal number of stops.

The Head of Design at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, Albert Kirzinger, explains in a short video what it is that makes a modern Multivan: “Sovereignty in all situations. Technologically, too. You can go about your everyday life in the city fully electrically. And on long journeys, you can enjoy the benefits of a powerful hybrid drive.”

The lithium-ion battery is housed in the new Multivan eHybrid’s underbody. That saves on space and simultaneously lowers the MPV’s centre of gravity. And that has a positive effect on handling. The Multivan’s battery is charged externally via an interface in the front wing on the right-hand side.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles will be offering its own charging card for charging the electrified MPV at public charging points, plus wall boxes for quick charging at home. The Multivan eHyrbid is thus transferring the lifestyle feel of its predecessors to the modern era. It remains the all- rounder for people on the move, families, sporty types and frequent travellers. It does that, however, more efficiently and more sustainably than any Multivan generation before. The new Multivan will launch with different drive system versions in the second half of this year.

Vauxhall Vivaro-e HYDROGEN: Plug-in fuel cell electric vehicle offers 249 mile range and rapid three minute refuelling

Unveiled today, Vauxhall’s new zero emissions Vivaro-e HYDROGEN light commercial vehicle has a range of up to 249 miles, refuels in just three minutes and a cargo volume up to 6.1m3, the same as the diesel or battery electric versions.

Vauxhall is actively speaking to business customers in the UK about hydrogen fuel cell and expects right-hand drive vehicles to arrive in 2023. Sister brand Opel plans to start delivering the first left-hand drive vehicles to fleet customers in autumn/winter 2021. The Vivaro-e HYDROGEN will be assembled at Vauxhall/Opel’s Research and Development Centre in Rüsselsheim, Germany.

The new fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) is based on the existing battery electric Vivaro-e with two sliding side-doors. The plug-in fuel cell concept of the Vivaro-e HYDROGEN enables the integration of the whole fuel cell system with the existing traction motor under the bonnet of the production vehicle.

In addition, the battery of the Vivaro-e BEV (battery electric vehicle) is replaced by three 700- bar hydrogen tanks. The carbon-fibre cylinders can be filled in just three minutes, giving a range of 249 miles.

Thanks to the smart packaging, the battery electric version becomes a fuel cell electric LCV without any modifications to the body (available in standard 4.95m and long 5.30m wheelbase) and with no impact on the 5.3m3 to 6.1 m3 of cargo space, while the payload increases to 1,100kg.

The Vivaro-e HYDROGEN with its 45kW fuel cell is capable of generating enough power for continuous motorway driving, while the 10.5kWh lithium-ion battery, located under the front seats, provides dynamic peak power when required – for example, at start-up and under acceleration. Since the battery covers power needs in such situations, the fuel cell can run at optimum operating conditions. The battery also enables regenerative braking, while the plug-in capability offers the opportunity to recharge the battery externally if necessary, e.g. at a charging station, providing 31 miles of pure battery electric range.
